Neoadjuvant Pemetrexed Disodium... Purpose of trial: The purpose of this clinical trial is:
- To study the effectiveness of the treatment followed by surgery and then radiation therapy
- To monitor whether treatment can shrink tumour prior to surgery
- To monitor any side effects
Eligibility: To be eligible to join this clinical trial you must:
- Be 18 years of age or above
- Have no pericardial mesothelioma history
- Have had no previous biological or radiation therapy, or chemotherapy
- Have had no previous surgery for mesothelioma
Treatment: The process will entail:
- An infusion of pemetrexed disodium and an hourly infusion of cisplatin every three weeks 9up to four courses)
- Surgery within 3-8 weeks of completion of chemotherapy
- Radiation therapy beginning 4-8 weeks after surgery
- Three monthly evaluations for two years
