(11-01-07) November 1st, 2007 | Work Can Lead to Asbestos Exposure The World Heath Organization is calling for work places and employers to be more aware of the dangers of work place asbestos. It is estimated that 200,000 people die each year from toxic exposure at work, including being exposed to asbestos.

(11-02-07) November 2nd, 2007 | School Asbestos to Be Removed in “Vacuum” An elementary school will have a makeshift vacuum created around six rooms were asbestos it to be removed. The abatement must be sealed to keep students and faculty safe.

(11-03-07) November 3rd, 2007 | Asbestos Causes School Closure A Nebraska school was shut down last week when asbestos was disturbed during renovations. While the material is dangerous, school officials expect doors to reopen as early as next week.

(11-04-07) November 4th, 2007 | Cayuga Building to Get Abatement After much publicity, the Cayuga County Office Building will be undergoing asbestos abatement within the month. The building was at the center of a heated lawsuit that alleged negligence in removing the deadly material.

(11-05-07) November 5th, 2007 | Asbestos Fines Contested by Contractor A New York contracting company is contesting six health citations and almost $60,000 worth of fines over asbestos exposure. The company stated that they are not liable for exposing employees to asbestos.

(11-06-07) November 6th, 2007 | Asbestos Victims Seek Restitution A judge in Miami decided to delay a plea deal this week in an asbestos case. The defendant was set to plead guilty to two counts of mail fraud in regards to previous asbestos litigations, but the judge decided to delay the plea until victims had a chance to voice their opinions.

(11-07-07) November 7th, 2007 | Penalties Handed out to Four Over Asbestos Three people and one company were given penalties for almost $150,000 in regards to the mishandling of asbestos in Massachusetts. Though the fines were handed down, most of the charge was dropped in a plea deal.

(11-08-07) November 8th, 2007 | Asbestos Slows Demolition The demolition of a building ravaged by fire was temporarily postponed when asbestos was found. Areas must now be tested for the dangerous substance, and the building will have to have the asbestos removed before demolition can continue.

The removal of the deadly substance from a perspective park is now under investigation.

A solution was used to remove deadly asbestos from the building, and apparently left heavy fumes in the treated areas.

(11-17-07) November 17th, 2007 | Asbestos Case Moves to Trial A New Jersey law firm that represents a now-deceased woman is taking the lawsuit to trial this week. The woman died of mesothelioma, a form of lung cancer tied to asbestos exposure.

Grace & Company. The previous ruling said that asbestos tests conducted by the company itself could not be used in any cases against them.

But when permits were filed with the state, the landfill was requesting the right to take the hazardous substance.

(11-26-07) November 26th, 2007 | Building Put on Notice Over Asbestos A Missouri building was given notice this week that the presence of asbestos must be made known to the public and tenants. An anonymous tip led to the discovery of the exposed asbestos.

(11-27-07) November 27th, 2007 | County Pays Off Asbestos Work The council representing Lake County, Indiana could not be happier to pay more than $220,000 in bills. The bills are the last installment for asbestos work that has taken almost 20 years to complete.

(11-28-07) November 28th, 2007 | Asbestos Payout Overturned By Court A judgment issued in a Texas asbestos case has been overturned this week by the Texas Supreme Court. The Supreme Court stated that the man involved could not prove that asbestos was completely at fault for his illnesses.

(11-29-07) November 29th, 2007 | School Asbestos Delays Demolition Asbestos that was found as an old Michigan middle school was being prepared for demolition will not increase the timeline by about one year. The removal of the asbestos will also increase the proposed budget by as much as $2 million.

(11-30-07) November 30th, 2007 | Libby Victims Hopeful for New Asbestos Case Residents and asbestos victims that became ill due to the asbestos mines in Libby, Montana are hoping that an appellate court will overturn previous rulings. This would be the only way that the owner of the mines would be held responsible.
