A New Jersey law firm that represents a now-deceased woman is taking the lawsuit to trial this week. The woman died of mesothelioma, a form of lung cancer tied to asbestos exposure.
A trial will begin this week involving a New Jersey based law firm representing the interest of a deceased woman. The suit alleges that the woman contracted mesothelioma, a form of deadly lung cancer, from brake dust resulting from car repairs her husband and children completed. The woman would shake out clothes and rags used while removing brakes pads from old cars, then would launder the close and reuse the rags. The brand of brake pads used during the period of 20 years by her family is known to contain moderate levels of asbestos. The woman passed away in 2002, just months after being diagnosed with the aggressive cancer.
The law firm has more than 25 years experience trying asbestos and mesothelioma cases in the New Jersey area. Many times, lawsuits will extend beyond the life span of an asbestos victim. While asbestos-related diseases can take years or even decades to manifest, mesothelioma is often so far advanced when found that it is terminal. While there are medications to prolong the life of a mesothelioma victim, there is no known cure for this type of lung cancer.
