Asbestos Charge Against Developer

Accusations have been made against a wind energy developer claiming that the company violated asbestos regulations in relation to the removal of asbestos, a known carcinogenic governed by stringent rules and regulations. The company, EMDC, has now been ordered to post warnings and clean up the site where the violations are said to have taken place. The developer had made applications to build four windmills in East Haven.

Claims have been made that an old US Air Force radar base was demolished on the site without the use of properly qualified asbestos removal professionals, and because the building contained asbestos this directly violated the asbestos policies and regulations. It was further revealed that none of the necessary permits and assessments were obtained before the demolition.

The president of the developer has stated that the violations were not knowingly violated, but that the company will be doing everything possible to comply with the government�s orders relating to the clean up and warnings. A licensed asbestos professional will then have to inspect the area to ensure compliance to the notice sent out by government officials to the contractor.
