The widow of a man that died from lung cancer has filed an asbestos lawsuit, claiming that her husband contracted the cancer and died as a result of exposure to asbestos dust and fibers. Asbestos is a known carcinogenic that was once widely used in many different industries. The widow has filed the lawsuit against thirty-nine companies.
The lawsuit was filed in August. Jerry Allen Warren died in January of this year. According to reports he did smoke a pack of cigarettes a day. He also worked in high risk jobs such as working as a steel plant operator, a mechanic, and a laborer – jobs in which the risk of exposure to asbestos is increased.
According to the widow of Mr. Warren he was exposed to asbestos during his time at work, between 1950 and 1993, in a variety of ways, including through working with gaskets, insulation, piping, and various other products and equipment that increased the risk of exposure.
Mrs. Warren claims that the employers of her late husband failed to provide effective safety and precautionary measures despite being aware of the potentially deadly effects of exposure to airborne asbestos dust and fibers.
