Approval has been given in the United Kingdom by the HSC with regards to the revision of asbestos regulations that will aim to provide better protection to workers through reduced exposure and improved training policies and procedures.
Revisions will be made and a good deal of consultation is said to have gone into the changes implemented in the draft Control of Asbestos Regulations. Control limits and practical guidelines, as well as improved training guidelines, will be included in the regulation.
The amended regulations being produced will replace three previous sets of regulations that were being used, and these include: The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002, The Asbestos (Licensing Regulations 1983, and The Asbestos (Prohibitions) Regulations 1992.
Full details of the regulations will shortly be circulated to ministers for comments and approval. The UK Health & Safety Executive has been asked to monitor all changes being implemented.
