Workers from a North Wales factory are moving towards claiming compensation after falling ill through working with asbestos. The workers – around 150 of them – worked at a car parts factory in North Wales in the UK, and could claim thousands of pounds (GBP) through compensation.
It is expected that some of the workers or their relatives could pick up between fifty and one hundred thousand pounds if they are able to successfully prove that their health problems were a result of working with asbestos at the factory.
Around a thousand people worked at the Ferodo factory in Wales, where asbestos was used to manufacture linings for brakes and clutches between 1962 and 1997. Many of the workers were diagnosed with asbestosis in the 1980s, and were told that they could move towards claiming compensation if their conditions worsened in the future.
Asbestos is a known carcinogenic, and was used for many years all over the world in auto parts, a variety of household and buildings products, and as insulation.
