Cops Warn UK Robbers About Asbestos Contamination

August 27th, 2007

Police officers in the UK have issued a warning to thieves, urging them to seek medical assistance as they could have been exposed to potentially deadly asbestos dust and fibers. Officers from Cleveland Police have stated that they are concerned for the thieves, and they could suffer serious health problems unless they contact a doctor.

The police have even stated that the thieves can contact them anonymously. They stole gear, boots, and equipment that was being used by specialist workmen to remove dangerous brown asbestos from a site on Skippers Lane in Middlesborough.

"I'd urge anyone who has taken these items to contact police - anonymously, if necessary - so we can arrange their urgent collection by people equipped to move these things safely," stated one police officer.

He added: "In addition, if anyone should come across any of these items - all are either marked, or engraved with the letter "A'' in red - they should contact us immediately, again so we can take the necessary steps.''
