The family of a plumber that died from asbestos related cancer has won the right to compensation for asbestos related disease. The family of the UK was awarded the compensation in London's High Court, amounting to £145,000 GBP (around $290,000).
Sixty-one year-old Robert Henderson Marshall died from the asbestos related cancer in April of last year. He worked for Reading-based builder, Brian Rawling - trading as CF Rawling and Son – between 1961 and 1973, and sued the company before he passed away.
According to reports Mr. Marshall suffered terribly before he finally died from mesothelioma, which he contracted as a result of exposure to asbestos dust and fibers during his work. He was diagnosed in 2004 and had to undergo various treatments including chemotherapy.
The widow of the decedent took over the claim after he passed away, and before the case went to trial a settlement offer was made. Mr. Marshall also leaves a five year-old daughter.
