Man Files Asbestos Lawsuit

August 14th, 2007

A Tennessee man has filed an asbestos related lawsuit that names over one hundred companies as defendants, after claiming that he contracted an asbestos related illness as a result of being exposed to the potentially deadly substance through items that he was working with and around, both at work and at home.

The plaintiff, Mr. James Weese, stated that he worked on car repairs at home, and was exposed to asbestos through various auto parts that he used. He states that he was also exposed to asbestos at work, as he was employed at various locations as a pipe fitter and laborer between the 1940s to the 1990s.

Weese has now been diagnosed with the asbestos related cancer, mesothelioma, which can take decades to develop following exposure to asbestos, but can then go on to kill in a matter of months from the time of diagnosis.

According to the complaint, which names one hundred and eighteen companies as defendants: "The plaintiff's exposure and inhalation, ingestion or absorption of the asbestos fibers was completely foreseeable and could or should have been anticipated by the defendants."
