A smoker has blamed his lung cancer on asbestos exposure, and has filed a lawsuit against over sixty corporations as a result of the disease. Mark McCall, a refinery worker, was diagnosed with lung cancer, and although he is a smoker alleges that his disease results from exposure to asbestos dust and fibers rather than cigarettes.
McCall has been smoking cigarettes for around thirty-six years. However, he has blamed his lung cancer on being exposed to products containing asbestos, which were manufactured by various companies including Zurn Industries, A. O. Smith, and Lockheed Martin.
Between 1974 and 2006 McCall worked as a welder for a variety of refineries, and according to his medical records was probably the victim of occupational exposure to asbestos whilst working in this field. He has been smoking cigarettes for most of his adult life according to reports.
The lawsuit filed by McCall is attempting to claim compensation for loss of earnings, physical pain, mental anguish, disfigurements, and medical expenses relating to his cancer.
