British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, has announced that he hopes to change a recent ruling with regards to asbestos compensation to widows of those killed by asbestos related disease. The ruling by law makers was announced a few weeks ago, and caused major concern among both support groups and those personally affected, as it meant that compensation could be slashed.

Thousands of widows could be affected by the recent ruling, and could lose out on huge sums in the way of compensation. However, Blair has stated that he hopes to announce plans relating to making changes to the ruling in a couple of weeks.

The Prime Minister recently attended a conference in Blackpool, England, and announced: "I regret that judgement. I'm looking at the moment to see the best opportunity for us to change it. If we can change it, we will. I hope to announce something on this in a couple of weeks."

Blair was asked about the issue during a questions and answers session at the Blackpool conference, and it was then that he told attendees about his plans to try and make changes.
