Tax Payers Fund El Dorado Asbestos Clean Up

June 17th, 2005

Recently, the wealthy town of El Dorado Hills in California has made the news on a number of occasions, after naturally occurring asbestos raised concerns over health problems for children playing in the area.

In a recent experiment, even Environmental Protection Agency officers ‘played’ like children in the area in order to run tests of the potential damage and possible health repercussions that could stem from the natural asbestos in the area.

The paved roads, landscaping, and play area around Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills is now to be given a complete overhaul courtesy of the tax payer’s money. The EPA has deemed the work necessary in order to cut the risks of asbestos related health problems to people in the area.

Although this town is meant to be a wealthy one in terms of income, there were apparently no funds available through the school district, which is why the Environmental Protection Agency agreed to cover the costs. The work is expected to cost around $1.2 million.
