Man Claims He Suffered Secondary Asbestos Exposure

June 8th, 2007

A man has filed a lawsuit in Madison County Circuit Court in Texas, naming over one hundred defendants. The plaintiff has been diagnosed with the asbestos related cancer mesothelioma, and claims that he suffered exposure to this deadly carcinogenic as a result of being in contact with his father who worked in an asbestos environment.

According to Alan Donely his father worked at various locations as an auto body repairman and painter. He stated that his father often came home with asbestos dust and fibers on his clothing, and this is how the exposure occurred resulting in the plaintiff contracting the deadly and incurable cancer, mesothelioma.

The lawsuit stated: "Dust created by working with and around asbestos and asbestos-containing products would permeate the person and clothing of the plaintiff's father. This dust contained asbestos fiber." It also goes on to state: "The plaintiff would be repeatedly exposed to this asbestos dust from his father's person and clothing."

The plaintiff was diagnosed with the asbestos related cancer in 2005. His father worked in various asbestos related fields between the mid 1960s and 1980.
