The family of a UK man that died from the asbestos related cancer, mesothelioma, will have to wait until October to find out how much they will receive by way of compensation for the death of the man. Arthur Wolverson worked as an insulation lager, and died from cancer, which he developed as a result of exposure to asbestos.
Wolverson died in April 2005 at the age of sixty-four. Between 1959 and 1962 he had worked at a company in Wolverhampton, where he was allegedly exposed to the asbestos that caused his cancer. His family has been awarded nearly fifty thousand GBP (nearly one-hundred thousand dollars) as an interim payment, but the final compensation payout will be confirmed in October. It is likely to be between one-hundred and two -hundred thousand GBP (between two-hundred and four-hundred thousand dollars).
A solicitor for the family stated: “A recent hearing has resolved the issue of liability on the part of LR Burrows & Co. Medical evidence has been presented and there will be a trial for the assessment of compensation on October 25 in the Royal Courts of Justice in London. But in the meantime, negotiations will hopefully settle the compensation before this date.”
