The widow of a man that died from the asbestos related cancer, mesothelioma, is enlisting the help of her deceased husband’s former co-workers and preparing to file a lawsuit to claim compensation for the death of her husband. Julia Holmes from the UK lost her husband to the deadly cancer when he was just 67-years-old. Mr. Holmes was a nuclear physics researcher, and had been working as an experimental officer for Rutherford Laboratories in Didcot from 1963 until 1989, when he retired. After his death, and investigation was held and the cause of death was determined as industrial.
The family of the deceased are now trying to contact former co-workers of Mr. Holmes in order to gather as much relevant information as possible and maximize the chances of a successful lawsuit. They want to find out more about what Mr. Holmes actually had to do as part of his duties at the laboratories.
A lawyer for the family has stated: "Mr. Holmes was found to be seriously ill with this asbestos-related cancer shortly before his death in 2003. Mrs. Holmes is herself not well and she has asked us to try to get in touch with former work colleagues who would be able to give more details of what his work involved. All calls will be treated in the utmost confidence."
