Teachers Concerned About Asbestos Removal

A number of Madison Middle School teachers have expressed concerns about the health hazards and risks connected with the removal of asbestos and construction work on campus.

Asbestos abatement is due to begin this week, and many of the teachers are worried about the possible problems that could come from the work and asbestos abatement.

Teachers have already stated that they have suffered headaches and allergies over the year, and are now worried about the potential health problems that could stem from the removal of the asbestos such as respiratory health problems and even cancer.

Teachers have added that when abatement took place last year, people were stopped from coming into the building, and many want to know what abatement is now taking place while school is still in session.

One teacher stated: ''We expressed concerns to the administration, and they replied that everything was taken care of.''
