The widow of a man that died from asbestos related illness is suing Rank Entertainment, which once operated Pinewood Studios in England, which produced hit movies such as the Carry On movies and many James Bond movies. The claimant’s late husband worked on the creation and building of movie sets, and this is how he was allegedly exposed to airborne asbestos dust and fibers.
Airborne dust and fibers from asbestos can result in a range of health problems, inclduing a form of cancer known as mesothelioma, which can affect the lung, abdominal, or heart cavities. The deceased passed away as a result of mesothelioma, after contracting the cancer following exposure to asbestos when working on the movie sets according to reports.
The entertainment company has now been accused of failure to keep areas free from asbestos dust, failure to protect the health of its workers, and failure to adhere to regulations relating to the provision of protective equipment for employees that are at risk of such exposure.
The insurance company for Rank, Zurich UK Commercial, stated: “Rank Film Productions ceased trading in 1989. Our solicitors are working through the process of the claim. They have recently been notified. Mesothelioma is a very unpleasant disease. Our sympathies are with the family. We will try to deal with the claim as swiftly and efficiently as we can.”
