State environmental officials are investigating the disappearance of asbestos from an old log cabin in Swansea. Officials were aware of the asbestos being in the old log cabin, and were making arrangements to have it disposed of through the proper channels, but are now concerned because the asbestos has disappeared altogether.
Asbestos is a known carcinogenic that is linked to a range of health problems and diseases including asbestos related cancer, which can stem from regular or high level exposure to airborne asbestos dust and fibers. This is why the environmental authorities and officials are concerned with regards to the whereabouts of the asbestos.
The State Department of Health and Environmental Control has stated that it needs to try and locate the missing asbestos. The asbestos was originally discovered late last year in the old log cabin in Swansea, and officials were arranging proper and careful disposal of the dangerous material, which would have cost around three thousand dollars.
The asbestos is said to have disappeared between November 2005 and the following January, and officials are baffled as to where it might have ended up stating that they cannot imagine who would want it.
