An asbestos worker that was due to be charged on a number of counts including asbestos violations will be pleading guilty in court, but all other charges against him will be dropped according to his lawyer. The former contractor is going to be pleading guilty in US District Court in Syracuse this month, states his lawyer.
Sixty-four year-old John Chick was charged on a number of counts, including issuing a death threat to a worker that blew the whistle on the asbestos violations in which he was involved.
However, according to the defendant’s lawyer all other charges against Chick will be dropped, and he will be pleading guilty to just one count of violating the federal Clean Air Act.
His lawyer stated: "It's pretty clear. This will terminate the investigation on Mr. Chick and any and all other charges will be dismissed. We are anxious to inform the court what occurred on the day Mr. Chick was ordered to remove the boiler and the pipes, who were the actual supervisors who advised him to remove those pipes and how they instructed him to dispose of that material."
